Higher Education was perhaps one of the first industries disrupted world-wide by COVID-19 which presented as an immediate crisis and created challenges that required urgent resolution. In reality the Higher Education sector was already dealing with a number of issues that were causing disturbance of their own including technology-driven disruption to traditional teaching and learning practices, escalating costs for students and institutions alike, disconnection with workplace needs, increasing student debt, reduced student retention and satisfaction among other things.

Responses to COVID-19 by Universities has accelerated changes in the industry and realised some changes that may have, without COVID-19, taken years to effect. Let’s not waste these achievements by viewing changes as placeholders until the sector is able to return to normal. 

Let us not waste this crisis.
