Learning Spaces at Universities

  • Charles Sturt University

Progressively at Flinders we have been turning some of our lecture theatre spaces into collaborative teaching spaces. Often one of the architectural challenges is the floor incline. An innovative response is the creation of split level spaces the enable more collaborative styles of teaching

Social work simulation lab

Remote recording is used in the Social Work simulation lab to help teach undergraduate and post-graduate social work students as they prepare for their first work-integrated learning experience.

Some of the most important skills for social workers are interpersonal relational skills, including attunement, empathy and responsiveness. Students practice their interviewing skills in the simulation space.

Direct observation of trainees is critical for student learning and this can occur in the lab, with the teacher viewing remotely rather than being within the consultation room.
